Hurricanes vs. Blizzards

There are a few things I've been extremely excited about lately. The first, is Boston accents. I am all about them. I will even seek out words that have an "R" in them just so I can say a word with a Boston accent. It's pretty great. My favorite phrase as of late is: "park your car in the Harvard yard". In a Boston accent it goes a little more like this (excuse the swearing, they swear a lot in Boston): "fuckin' pahk yuh cah in the Hahvahd Yahd." Now you try it! It's fun right? And remember, practice makes perfect, and watching The Departed (The Depahted) helps too.

Another thing that's really gotten me going lately is metrocards. Why is it NewYork, that you make such cheap paper cards that NEVER swipe on the machines? Seriously. It's embarrassing to be that person that gets stuck at the machine for 20 swipes until the card works. How is a girl supposed to look like a New Yorker when she cannot even swipe her metrocard? So naturally it is not user error, it's New York's mistake. I accept your apology New York, only if you stop making me look like a fool.

I've been really into my classes this semester. My class load is as follows: Domestic Violence, Dementia, Complicated Grief, Life Threatening Illness, and Child Psychopathology. It's quite the uplifting load of classes, but I really like them all! I have silly professors who bring up things like, the zombie apocalypse or say phrases like "nailin' it", which means obviously that I am obsessed with them because I myself have been known to say the phrase "nailin' it" once or twice, here or there. But seriously, I love them. I am learning so much and cannot believe that I only have 4 more months left to go before I graduate and am expected to social work people's lives. WAH. This must be how doctors feel when they graduate, only they have to worry about killing people. Yeesh. Reason #1,000,000 why I would never be a doctor? I think so.

In other news, we just had a blizzard. What's up with that? I move to the East Coast and the weather literally has a meltdown. I am not trained to provide supportive counseling to a freaked out mother nature so let's cool your jets mother nature and stop making me deal with natural disasters like hurricanes and blizzards. But I survived don't worry, and mother nature and I are on good terms because central park looks damn good with a foot of snow on the ground. Also Sara was visiting, which just put me in the best of moods. We also found the BEST Mexican restaurant that I've found since leaving Southern California so that didn't hurt either. Couple of margaritas and I'm not so cold anymore if you catch my drift? Just kidding, but seriously.

Also in case you missed it, Mr. Groundhog said we're getting an early spring so get prepared because all of the retail stores sure are! Seriously, can a girl get a pair of gloves since hers have holes in them? NO! She cannot because all of the stores have floral prints and SHORTS. Shorts. It's 20 degrees outside, how am I supposed to wear shorts? Rude. Let's hope Mr. Groundhog is right.

I know it's been awhile since my last blog, but I was not feeling so inspired and I just quite frankly needed a break. Work is crazy at the new hospital, school is nuts (trying to graduate etc), and I literally only have time for homework, working out, eating, and sleeping so I'm trying to keep my head above water people. Remember how I'm in grad school? It's difficult okay? Not just anyone can become a master!

I miss you blog family, I love you, and I will talk to you again soon. For now, I need to go read about brains for my dementia class. Brains are silly. Next time, we'll talk hospitals and my life in the ICU.

xoxo,
